Client: The leading media group in Flanders
Date: June 2022
Location: Queen Elisabeth Hall, Antwerp
Participants: 300 people
Our client was looking for a unique and inspiring teambuilding experience that would not only strengthen collaboration but also leave a lasting impression on employees. With 300 participants, the challenge was to actively engage everyone in a collective performance that combined teamwork, focus, and enjoyment.
The challenge
How do you create an experience where 300 people, with diverse talents and backgrounds, come together to deliver an impressive final performance? How do you ensure that everyone feels engaged and valuable within the whole?
The solution: Orchestrate
Team Masters organised ‘Orchestrate’, an extraordinary musical teambuilding event where participants transformed into a full-fledged symphony orchestra in just two hours. The highlight? A joint performance of Carmina Burana.
How does it work?
- The participants arrived unsuspectingly at the Elisabeth Hall, where a small orchestra welcomed them.
- The conductor introduced the professional musicians and revealed the challenge: the participants would form the orchestra themselves!
- In workshops, teams learned to play an instrument under professional guidance, such as the violin, viola, cello, clarinet, trombone, or percussion.
- Through intensive collaboration and coaching from the musicians, the participants prepared for the final performance.
- The highlight: all 300 participants came together in the Queen Elisabeth Hall to deliver an impressive performance of Carmina Burana.
Results and Impact
- Strengthening collaboration: Participants discovered the importance of listening to one another, working in sync, and trusting their team.
- Creativity and focus: The experience revealed new talents and encouraged everyone to step outside their comfort zone.
- Energetic and emotional impact: The collective performance created goosebump moments and fostered a deep sense of pride and connection.
- Unforgettable experience: The media group not only experienced a unique teambuilding activity but also gained a metaphorical lesson on harmony and collaboration within a company.
Conclusion
Orchestrate proved that a group of 300 people, with no prior musical knowledge, can achieve something truly phenomenal together. This large-scale musical adventure not only fostered team bonding and enjoyment but also created a profound experience that would resonate for a long time.
